amazon review buttonPleasantly Surprised -
Don't let the prologue stop you from reading this charming book. I found the writing in the prologue to be choppy and stiff and honestly thought I had started yet another novice self-pub writer's e-book efforts. But I'm really glad I kept going. The writing in Chapter 1 started off much better, was tighter and more flowing, and the rest of the book was very entertaining. There were actually some passages that I thought were exceptionally well written, and it's not often I catch my breath at the turn of a phrase.

The plot uses classic fantasy themes, but the characters are fresh and I didn't anticipate the events.

Thoroughly a good read, in my opinion. I'll be looking for the 2nd in the series.
