Excellent Preparation Material - This book provides excellent preparation material for the MCTS 070-515 exam, with the caveat that reading this book while having no prior experience with ASP.NET will most likely not be sufficient to pass. If you do not have experience, it can also serve as a great introductory book to ASP.NET, but don't expect to be able to pass the exam with the book alone.
If you have a little bit (or a lot) of experience with ASP.NET, however, this book is wonderful in a couple of ways:
- You'll learn about things you may not have known existed, which in most cases will make your life easier. For instance, I had never used the ASP.NET membership class before, instead relying on custom written classes, and the headaches which came along with them.
- You'll learn about things you may not have known existed, which you may never use, but you will need to know for the exam. For obvious reasons, the exam covers all features of ASP.NET, including those which may be ignored by most developers. This book will expose you to those things, even if you decide you're never going to use them -- at least you'll be aware of their existence when weighing design decisions.
Additionally, the sample test provided on the accompanying CD can really help you to hone in on areas which you may need to re-review. On top of that, buying a new book will give you a 15% discount code for the exam fee.
Definitely a great prep! I wouldn't have come close to passing without it.
